Gentleman Sinner

Hello bookworms! I know.. I’m the worst sort of person. Life is just dishing it out lately and I feel like I don’t have a moment to breathe let alone finish my novel and get to blog posts. I have book covers scattered across my desktop (still), and I’m reading faster than I’m writing, but all in good time.. it’ll get done.

I also have to admit I’ve joined the Alternator craze and finally jumped onto the Tessa and Hardin bandwagon with the After series by Anna Todd. I can’t help it. I saw the movie after reading half of the first book and now I’m just.. totally down the rabbit hole. More about that another time.

Let’s get to tonight’s book review! It’s no surprise that I’m choosing these books at random and they’re totally out of order from how I read them. Just to give you a little insight as to how out of control this is getting.. the book we’re going to discuss tonight is one I thought I had actually reviewed for you guys at least a month back, but nope.. I’m just silly and losing control of the whole blog! Kidding.. sort of. Let’s talk about the good stuff.. tonight, we’re discussing Gentleman Sinner by the one-and-only Jodi Ellen Malpas.

An all-the-feels novel of fierce love overcoming a dark past from the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling THIS MAN series.

Izzy White knows of the darkness in this world. After all, she escaped it long ago. Determined not to let her past beat her, Izzy has a secure, stable life with a job she loves in nursing. But one act of kindness will completely upend everything she’s so carefully built-putting her right back in the crosshairs of danger she’s been so desperate to avoid.

When Theo Kane shows up like a knight in shining armor, Izzy can’t help thinking she’s been saved from one threat and exposed to another. His imposing physique, the harsh lines of his face, and the wariness of everyone who comes close are just a few clues to Theo Kane’s notorious reputation. The man is positively terrifying. But with Izzy, he’s tender and a complete gentleman, and her fascination with the mysterious beast of a man becomes too powerful for her to walk away.

As Theo’s demons come to light, running becomes even more impossible. And yet staying together could doom them both.

Oh Lord, guys. Theo and Izzy are a force to be reckoned with, seriously. I almost couldn’t stand it. It’s no secret that I always enjoy a solid book boyfriend and an alpha hunk who borders on the ridiculous. That being said, Theo does NOT disappoint.

This well-suited & booted, muscled, man meets Izzy quite by accident in a dark alley, and by accident, and is smitten with her from the start. He’s your typical persistent, determined, self-assured guy who wins her over hard and fast.

As mentioned earlier in this post, there are two sides to Theo Kane, and Izzy isn’t sure what to make of it all. With her, he is patient, kind, and gentle, but if others are around, they aren’t allowed to go anywhere near him. Izzy is hesitant with her heart because she’s already dealt with a traumatic past that she’s determined not to repeat, but the care-giving nurse in her wants to uncover whatever it is Theo is hiding behind his rough and tough exterior.

They both have their pasts and they both have their secrets, but they’re determined to have a chance at a happy future together. Their chemistry is sizzling and off-the-charts, which Jodi always delivers.

These two go through the ringer when their pasts and presents collide in an extremely violent way, and I’m telling you now, but you won’t be able to stop turning the pages to find out what happens. It’ll leave you beyond nervous and a little bit heartbroken to say the least.

I have never been disappointed with a Malpas story. She writes some of my favorite alpha-male book boyfriends; Jessie Ward, Jake Sharp, Miller Hart, and now, thankfully, I can add Theo Kane to my collection.

This romance is a stand-alone and the perfect companion for a nice sunny day lounging outside. If you haven’t met Theo and Izzy yet, please add them to your TBR for this weekend, and you can thank me later.
