A Court of Frost and Starlight (A Court of Thorns and Roses 3.1)

Hey there, bookworms! It’s been a bit. I know I updated you guys last week about everything going on and why posts were delayed. I meant to post this weekend and life got too hectic. I have a god awful headache right now, but I know my family is getting the results from my dad’s blood test tomorrow or the next day (see my last post), so depending on how that goes, I can’t promise a post in the next few days. Just help me keep fingers crossed and good vibes going! They’re much appreciated!

Anyway, I’m looking at my desktop where I have images saved for all the books I need to review, and it’s just… a mess at this point. I’m not posting reviews in any particular order is how I read them, I just want them posted for you guys because who doesn’t want a book suggestion? I know I always do! Let’s get to it!

Okay, so, if you have followed or stopped by this blog for a bit, you know that I adore Sarah J. Maas her A Court of Thorns & Roses series. If not, you can read my reviews for books one, two, and three here and here. Needless to say, I was thrilled when the latest installment, A Court of Frost and Starlight, was finally released.

Hope warms the coldest night.

When we left these characters in book three, they had just survived a war that shifted the dynamics of the courts and cost many lives in the process. Meeting them in this installment, a lot of that is still raw, but it’s clear how much they’re trying to move on. The Winter Solstice is approaching at the Night Court, and everyone in the kingdom is doing their best to be thankful they still have each other and savor a special time of year together. Feyre sees how the war affected her people, and while she figures out how to cope and help those in need, she does what she can to lose herself in Rhys.

Obviously, I can’t get enough of Feyre and Rhysand. Their chemistry is just off the charts and I love every damn minute of it, so to get a short and sweet novel of just that had me all warm and fuzzy. In other reviews I read, I noticed it caught flack because it was 200+ pages of fluff and romance, but for me, as much as I adored the first three books and their battles and drama between the different courts, I enjoyed the break so that the characters could just be happy and figure out what’s next.

I’ve enjoyed the mysticism and enchantment of these books since the first novel, but to be honest, these books are big and they’re dark at times. There’s plenty of tears, bloodshed, and betrayal sprinkled throughout the first three books, so this was a lovely reprieve before the story continues and we get more from the supporting characters. Honestly, it put me in the mood for Christmas, but let’s not have time go too fast, right?

If you love romance or a magical fantasy.. or heck, a solid mix of both and you haven’t checked out this series yet, please do. There’s Faeries and war and steamy chemistry, warriors, and all sorts of magical creatures and sexy adventures. Talk about escapism!

Until next time, guys (which I promise is soon), happy reading!

My Final Rating: four out of five stars
