Her Warrior (Warriors, Artisans and Healers #1)

Hey there, bookworms. Happy Tuesday! I feel like I’ve been here, but not quite here at the same time. Who knew being in between jobs wouldn’t have a ton of down time? Between working on my book, fine-tuning the resume, doing some stuff around the house that I’ve been neglecting for months, and recently being inundated with book requests, I feel slightly scatterbrained mixed with a definite cabin fever.

That being said, I’m so behind on review posts. I have three sitting in my queue right now, and I’ll be adding more to that soon if I don’t get going, so why not get my butt in gear and get back to posting. Right? Let’s get to a sexy novella by Lila Sky called Her Warrior.

I found this book thanks to my Instagram feed when other readers were posting excerpts and some tantalizing art to go with it. I was intrigued and knew I needed to grab a copy of this story and see what all the fuss was about.

Her Warrior is a short, erotic romantic, fantasy novella that tells the story of Imani and Rahl. He loves her when he knows he shouldn’t, and she’s loved him for so long that she can’t wait any longer to do something about it.

When the summer solstice approachs, so does the Night Dance. That’s the night of magic, sensuality, and pleasure, and now that she’s of age, Imani is going to use the festivites to seduce Rahl. He broke her heart once before by refusing her, but she’s determined not to let that happen again.

Once her act of seduction breaks him and he succumbs to everything they’ve both ever wanted, they spiral through a ridiculously sexy and enchanting rollercoaster.

I enjoyed this story. I loved the fantasy element that served as the background to this erotic tale. If anything, I wanted more of this. The writing was slightly choppy and jumped around for me, which is why I couldn’t completely lose myself in this novella. However, I have to believe that if this story was longer and had more elaboration and detail, that I’d be completely obsessed and chomping at the bit for the next installment.

I know there’s more to come from this world, and I’m excited to see where Sky goes with all of it, but I’m really going to keep my fingers crossed that as the tales progress, there will be more to the text.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for a short story that mixes fantasy, steamy sex, romance, and all the sparkle that comes with imagination, take an evening or a weekend and read this novella!

My Final Rating: three out of five stars
