Hey there bookworms and happy almost-weekend. I just wanted to pop in here among the chaos of another hectic week to announce that today is not only world book day, but also… The Blabbing Bibliophile turns five years old! Time flies when you’re having fun! I promise that I didn’t plan to have the anniversary of my book blog fall on world book day; that was pure serendipity!
I initially started this blog over on Blogger when I decided I needed yet another social media platform to ramble my opinions and share my thoughts on things. When my little space came to fruition, I thought it would be more of an online journal of sorts – random musings if you will, and due to my major in college and genuine love of reading, after only one post, it segued into a book review blog.
Since then, it has amassed a following on both Facebook and Instagram, I’ve gone to a few Book Expos, written some fun pieces for other blogs, started a book club, done a little literary-themed traveling, got a job as a writer, started writing my own novel, and above all, I met a really awesome and ever-growing tribe of fellow readers.
There’s been plenty of times where life gets the better of all of us, and it hasn’t always been easy to stay up-to-date or get posts done as regularly as I’d like, but just know I’m eternally grateful to each and every one of you for your enthusiasm, support, and love of reading. I admit, I LOVE writing my blog. Honestly, if I could make it my full-time job, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Maybe it’ll happen one day.
In actuality, the BEST part about the creation of this blog was how it turned into a cozy community and brought me every single one of you. The people I’ve met and chatted with across the globe about all of our stories and fandoms, meeting authors, politicians, writers, and other bloggers and industry people at Book Expo, sharing thoughts and story suggestions, and even more I can’t think of right now is by far my favorite aspect of this journey. Little messages here and there from followers-turned-friends who give me suggestions, or thank me for the reviews I’ve shared is such a fantastic aspect of reading. Whether we’re talking Outlander, sharing the latest book boyfriends, book club picks, discussing cool bookstore locations, or watching some of our favorite reads head to screen, this passionate pack of bibliophiles has become almost like a second family. It thrills me to no end when my phone or e-mail pings with someone sharing an obsession about a book we’ve both read and can’t wait to talk about. In a day and age where the world is moving way too fast and society would rather binge Netflix or zone out on YouTube or social media instead of reading, us weirdos understand each other.
That being said, I’ll cheers to five years, and send a cheers out to all of you as we head into the next five. I can’t wait to see what the future brings. I will get back on track to bring you guys more reviews, cover reveals, release blitzes, adventures, and above all… BOOKS!
Until next time, Happy Reading, Happy World Book Day, and thanks again for spectacular adventure! xx
