A Nanny for Christmas

Hey there, bookworms! Happy holiday weekend! I hope you’re all enjoying the extended time off with lots of books and fun. I’ve spent the last few days on some outings with friends and I’m even going to a big book sale at my local bookstore tomorrow, so before I do more running around, I wanted to stop in for a book review.

I’m trying to divide my time between actually reading books, work, friends/family, this blog, and my own writing, and every time I think I’m caught up, I forget and neglect some aspect of life. I need to get better at setting reminders and compartmentalizing tasks. I’m proud to say that there is always some sort of project in the works that I’ll be sure to update my fellow bookworms on! Right now, the bit I’m trying to make progress on is the book I’m writing. It’s a political romance I know I’ve talked about on here before. If you haven’t checked it out yet, but might like to, you can find it linked on the right side of the homepage.

Anyway, now to tonight’s book review. It’s officially Christmas on Labor Day weekend with A Nanny For Christmas by Christina George!

“Willa O’Rourke knows the true story, the story that doesn’t sell magazines.

In less than 8 hours Willa went from being a behind-the-scenes nanny for one of the hottest A-list celebrity couples, to having her picture splashed all over every magazine in the country.

Caught in the arms of her sexy employer, Johnny Blaze.

No one cares that Johnny hit on her, and she repeatedly told him no.

The world thinks Willa O’Rourke is more interesting as the slutty, home-wrecking, opportunistic nanny. She even has a hashtag trending on Twitter. #dirtynanny

Humiliated and desperate to get away from the harsh eyes of Hollywood, she decides to take a short break from her suddenly not so glamorous life and head home for the holidays.

But a quiet Christmas to recoup before heading back to LA wasn’t in the cards.

She immediately runs into Jack, her seriously hot, fireman ex-boyfriend.

Despite Willa’s attempts to keep a low profile, she and Jack are thrown together for a Christmas charity project — making her wonder if she’s meant for a simpler life in Harper’s Corner after all.”

This was, without a doubt, one of the cutest novellas I’ve read in awhile. In the beginning, I was slightly worried with how well I’d click with these characters in such a short amount of time, but I shouldn’t have been concerned. Novellas can be a tough nut to crack, and in the past, I noticed that they could be hit or miss, rushed or played just right, A Nanny for Christmas was spot on.

Jack is or gorgeous and brooding, wounded hero, who I adored from the very start, and Willa was his girl who got away. Her unfortunate luck out in Los Angeles led to their second chance at a future. They’re both slow and scared to warm up to one another, but once they do, it’s the perfect dose of sizzling chemistry to melt all the snow outside their doors. Their reunion is intense and sexy as hell, but throw in a bit of Holiday Yuletide, and this little love story is downright magical to its core.

I was torn between devouring this book or putting it down repeatedly so that I wouldn’t tear through it and leave these characters before I wanted to, but in the end, I couldn’t resist and I had to know if they’d get their happily ever after, so I finished this one quickly.

A Nanny for Christmas had all the feel-good moments of a holiday Hallmark movie but the sensuality and sizzling chemistry of something more. I wish I had more of these two, so, fingers crossed for something down the road!

If you’re looking for one more quick read tomorrow before we all head back to work on Tuesday, celebrate Christmas in September with this sweet romance!

My Final Rating: four out of five stars
