Happy book review Tuesday my bibliophiles! I feel like it’s taking me forever to get this post to you because, let’s be honest, not only has work life been insanity as of late but I’m eyeballs deep in the season two premiere of This Is Us. I will do what I can to try to write through the tears and emotions.
Tonight, I’m discussing a trilogy that I read weeks ago and couldn’t quite decide how to review for you. Normally, I break series down by book and go over each one, but this set is a bit different, so instead, I’m going to write a general review about all three books so that I don’t give away too much, but can still give you guys an idea o what you’re getting into. That being said, let’s talk about Palm South University by Kandi Steiner.
Kandi’s books are usually ones that I can jump right into no questions asked. Her novels are always solid and have a perfect mix of sexy, dramatic, angsty, and more. Palm South University is no different. The three books are broken up into seasons (i.e. book one=season one). I ordered the box set via Amazon and jumped right in.
If you were ever a fan of Dawson’s Creek, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, or even old school episodes of The Real World, this series is for you! It reads just like your favorite binge-worthy show and every chapter brings you snippets from a different character. Personally, I’m not into the idea of frat and sorority life.. nor the idea of living in Florida (I hate the heat), but once I found myself among the festive group that is Bear, Cassie, Ashlei, Skylar, Adam, Jess, and Erin, I felt like one of the gang during every bit of their adventures at PSU.
These guys liked to party hard, but they also loved fiercely. Their friendships are indestructable and they know how to have a good (and often times sexy) time. There is a ton of drama regarding relationships and personal conflicts, but I really enjoyed that there were some heavy-hitting moments and life lessons thrown into the mix. There wasn’t a lull from book one through book three. These guys constantly kept me on my toes with their shenanigans around campus.
My time at PSU will be the closest I ever get to Greek Life (since I finished school years ago), but I have to admit, I had a ton of fun partying it up on frat and sorority row. It made me feel young(er) again!
If you’re looking for a solid weekend or vacation/beach read (if it’s still warm by you), and you absolutely adore a guilty pleasure show played out for you in black and white on the page, then head on down to paradise with the sexy crew of PSU!
My Final Rating: four out of five stars
