Sunshine Bleeds A Black Edge (Wild Things #3)

Good evening, bookworms! I have just two more sleeps until Book Expo, and I have to say, I’m a bit nervous. I’m venturing into slightly uncharted territory! I hope to see some of you there, so if you’ll be in NYC the next couple days, leave a comment so we can say hello!

Anyway, this is a very hectic, yet book-themed week for me. While there’s an element of stress, it’s also a week of fun that I can’t even begin to express, so I thought, “why not kick it off with a review??”

I’m starting this one off by apologizing profusely to the phenomenal A. Wilding Wells. She is always, ALWAYS thinking of her readers, and could NOT be more generous if she tried. I’ve been on her mailing list forever, and I always sign up to receive ARCs, and her latest novel was no different. However, I wound up so damn delayed in finishing this story and getting my review out, so, fingers crossed she doesn’t hold that against me. Now, let’s talk about Sunshine Bleeds A Black Edge.

While this book can work as a stand alone, I highly suggest reading others in the series, because this whole cast of characters are worth enjoying. You can read my reviews of How To Tame Beasts and Other Wild Things here and it’s sequel, Mastering The Art of a Three Ring Circus here. The band of misfits I adored so much march their way right back into my heart in Sunshine Bleeds A Black Edge. This time, they’ve brought more to the gang!

Ruby Mae is the girl who left a battered past behind in a small town and made a new life for herself far away. She’s a successful model in Paris, and she’s thisclose to becoming engaged, but there’s a niggling feeling telling her to say no. That feeling has a name.. and it’s Rebel.

Rebel is the love of Ruby’s life. The boy she left back in Wisconsin. He’s had no choice but to nurse his broken heart for almost two decades, with the girl he can’t seem to get off his mind.

When Ruby finds herself back home for a few weeks to help her mother move house, she has no choice but to confront her demons, and confront them, she does. Rebel and Ruby may have to make up for lost time, but the chemistry is still there and still sizzling.

They love to push each others’ buttons, and get into each others’ pants, but at the end of the day, they have a LOT of talking to do. Ruby left in a cloud of mystery, and Rebel was left to try to put the pieces together on his own with no real answers. Problem is, if she tells him why she left, it could destroy everything they’re trying to put back together.

Sunshine was by no means a smooth ride. It is a rocky rollercoaster that had my heart going every which way.. from my toes to my throat, but I couldn’t get enough. I devoured page after page to find out what would happen to this pair and wondered if they would get the happily ever after they’ve both wanted since they were kids.

It’s nothing new, but the thing I love most about Wells and her stories, is how thorough her process seems to be every single time. From the cover art, to the title, the character names, to the plot twists, I know I’ll always go on an adventure when I open one of her books. I have a lovely, sexy, angsty, and heart-thumping time.. every single time, and Sunshine is no different!

Please just stop what you’re doing and head over to Amazon right now and meet Rebel, Ruby, and the whole crew of Wild Things! You can thank me later!

My Final Rating: five out of five stars
