Hello, bibliophiles! Long time, no see! I’m finally home from an adventure across the pond, and I thought I’d bring you a wee review. If you can guess (or you follow me on social media), you’ll know that I just spent ten days in the magical and enchanting land of Outlander… Scotland! It was amazing and exceeded all of my expectations. This Jersey girl has even more aspirations now to head back to the UK one day soon on a more permanent basis. I also got some time to enjoy a book haul in one of their local shops, so I’m hoping to bring a post about that excursion to you as well.

Anyway, since I was galavanting around Faerie Glens on Skye, and searching high and low for a man in a kilt to keep forever, my reading suffered greatly. The book that came on the journey with me was the latest Black Dagger Brotherhood, Lover Unbound. I tried to sneak chapters in here-and-there, but prancing around most of Scotland meant my binging took a back seat. Luckily, I was able to get the last couple hundred pages done yesterday and get my thoughts to you guys.

I enjoyed Vishous’s story. His dynamic and inner demons kept the story going and interesting, and I loved how they came to play into his interactions with not only Jane, but Butch and the rest of the brotherhood as well.

Unfortunately, I was not able to focus my attention on these characters quite the way I wanted to, and being able to put the book down frequently meant that it wound up dragging a bit for me.

Of course, the ending came out of nowhere and all but hit me in the gut. I should’ve expected what was coming, but for some reason, I just didn’t. I wound up getting a emotional because it all just hit me at once.

Thankfully, there wasn’t a ton of mention of lessers and the Omega, because that loses my attention entirely. It was nice to get a break from that plot point.

I can’t wait to find out more from not only these two, but some of the rest who are rising in the ranks of the brotherhood in their training and transitions.
