Filthy Rich (Blackstone Dynasty #1)

Good evening, bibliophiles! Friday is fast approaching, and I’m not only excited for the weekend, but also to bring you guys two new(er) reviews! I’ve been reading faster than I can put together proper thoughts on what I’m reading, but then life gets in the way at the same time, so it’s just a mess. Like I said, I’m doing what I can to make some changes when and where I can so I can get back to being present here with all of you and my books as well. All I can ask is that you hang in there, and be patient with me!

Anyway, let’s get into this because I finished my latest read two days ago, and I’ve been dying to tell you all about it. If you’re familiar with a very lovely book boyfriend by the name of Ethan Blackstone, I have a feeling you’re going to want to meet Caleb Blackstone as well. I’m, of course, talking about Filthy Rich, book one in the Blackstone Dynasty series, by Raine Miller. I’m not entirely sure how these boys are linked up, but I have this gut feeling that they absolutely are, and if you know me, you know that Ethan Blackstone is in my top five of book boyfriends. Now, Caleb has begun climbing the ranks. Here’s why.

When it comes to fiction, I have an immense weakness for a man who is brought to his knees before his heroine realizes her feelings towards him. Caleb Blackstone is a sure example of this. The moment his eyes land on one Brooke Casterley, he knows she’ll be his in every sense of the word. This was more than caveman mentality, but his need for permanence in his life, and the whole white picket-fence scenario made me beyond swoony. I was utterly euphoric!

Naturally, they’re from two different worlds. Caleb was born into wealth and privilege, while Brooke is not only of another nation (a Brit living in Boston), but she’s also had to deal with a few traumatic life events that she has to remember for the rest of her life.

Caleb is a force of nature, and implants himself into her life in the most gentlemanly way he knows how. When their paths cross at a dinner gala, both of their lives are forever changed. No stranger to heartbreak and tragedy, Brooke is standoffish and keeps any tingles of emotions hidden and buried deep. She won’t even allow herself to acknowledge the butterflies. She isn’t ready for love or a believer in happily ever after. Her past won’t let her. Caleb, on the other hand, is the eternal optimist and romantic. He’s patient and understanding, and by earning Brooke’s trust, he does what he can to earn her heart as well. He’s nothing but determined, and makes a future with Brooke his number one priority.

This was a sweet and sexy tale. Obviously, I can’t wait to see what the rest of the dynasty group brings me in the near future! My fingers are crossed that it will be VERY near, indeed!

My Final Rating: five out of five stars
